Our A/E firm is composed of enthusiastic innovative thinkers, creative problem solvers, and smart designers. Structured as a studio office, our professionals are involved from start-to-finish for continuity and consistency of leadership.
Together we have received over 100 national, regional, and local awards & recognitions for design and construction excellence. We provide knowledge-based, quality design combined with technical proficiency for lasting beauty, sustainability, and efficiency.
QPK believes successful projects result from the careful balance between the art of architecture, the technology of construction, and the business of building.
Jack Quinlivan, Pete Pierik, and Al Krause established the firm in 1958. The three architects’ personalities and experience fostered a sustaining client base for the new firm, combining government, education, and other markets. John Stopen joined the firm shortly after its inception, integrating Structural Engineering services into our professional portfolio. Subsequently the firm has expanded to provide Landscape Architecture and Geotechnical Engineering services. That hard-to-define blend of talents, skills, and breadth of experience is a hallmark of QPK culture that continues to the present day.
QPK’s first project, commissioned by Christian Brothers Academy, was the foundational building for their new campus: a single structure combining classrooms, offices, cafeteria, gymnasium, rectory, and chapel. CBA remains a valued client with multiple projects over its 60 years of expansion.
QPK maintained our commitment to downtown Syracuse from inception to our current offices. Located in the urban core, we have contributed to the revitalization of the City and surrounding region with our business activities, volunteer work, and a multitude or regional clients and projects.
We are grateful for our clients’ continued trust in our firm.
