Hanover Square Fountain Restoration
LOCATION:
Syracuse, NY
PROJECT SIZE:
QPK Design provided Landscape Architectural services for the rehabilitation of the Hanover Square fountain and updates to other site amenities. The Hanover Square Fountain was originally constructed in the early 1980s to introduce a new public plaza for events and gatherings in Downtown Syracuse. Over the years, continued exposure to Central New York weather impacted the structural integrity of the fountain’s original brick terraced cladding.
After feedback from stakeholders, the Landscape Architecture team at QPK Design developed a modern, resilient façade for the fountain, enhanced seating via integrated seat walls, new lighting and planting improvements. The design modernizes the square and will serve as a backdrop for the historic facades of the neighborhood for years to come.
