The amphitheater was pre-ordained to be “hyper fast-tracked”. From design through construction, the entire project had merely eight months to achieve the August grand opening in coordination with the annual New York State Fair adjacent to the property.
Real-time decision-making allowed continual progress and workflow throughout design and construction. Early competitive structural bid packages and pre-ordering long lead items were instrumental in the successful implementation of the work plan.
The amphitheater complex provides 5,000 seats under the long span truss pavilion and another 12,500 seats in the sloped lawn area. Site design carefully integrates the facility along the developing lakeshore bike trial. With stunning views of Onondaga Lake, the unique contemporary architectural character creates a distinctive point of interest and destination, particularly at night with the illuminated pleated skirting on the pavilion structure.
