SUNY Upstate Medical University, Pediatric O.R. #5 Renovation

This  minimally invasive pediatric operating room was created out of storage and underutilized space within a pediatric surgery suite. Construction was performed without interrupting ongoing use of four existing operating rooms in the suite. The interior architecture includes a custom designed nurses’ document station.

The exiting building limitations required intensive coordination of building systems.  For example, across a third of this OR, only nine-inch clearance is available above the ceiling for mounting equipment and anesthesia booms. Equipment installed includes:

• Stryker - Operating Room Booms and Communications

• Steris - Sterilizers (System 1 and System 83)
